Higgins

Higgins has become much more adventurous and brave and kept me on my toes last night. He seems ready to want to roam. I had him on the sofa for a while and had to retrieve him about four times. Twice he tried to climb over a sofa arm and actually managed to get onto a bit of a ledge on the side of the cupboard next to the sofa, and walked straddled between that and the sofa - retrieved him. He then decided to climb the sofa - very energetically and walked along the top. First time he's done that. Twice I had to retrieve him as he suddenly started to climb down behind head first and looked like he would drop. He was full of energy and being cheeky and not scared of anything. He also is obsessed with zips! And likes to nibble them. And nibbled a couple of zips he found, plus a notebook and a cheque book. Excuse all the junk on the sofa, but Higgins enjoyed it!

I popped him in the playpen before he hurled himself off the sofa - he has mastered climbing upside down (head first downwards) and was doing it down the front of the sofa, so I decided he needed to go in the playpen! He spent a while in there enjoying his carrot cottage.

Some photos and a video. The one where he's climbing down the sofa head first, makes him look longer than he is! He moves so fast that most photos are blurred, including that one - so it sort of elongated him with the blur! He is quite a long hamster, but not quite that long!

You'll see him cheekily on top of the sofa back on the video :-)

That was a joy to watch, brought a big smile to my face. Love watching Higgins nose get going, and looks like he's marking the couch a bit. He looks super happy, what a precious hammy

That bit at the end of the video where he is still and pointing down the front of the sofa he seemed quite shocked and a bit - hey what just happened - he had been about to head off the back of the sofa and I had to grab him before he disappeared and turned him the other way round so he was a bit thrown by that I think!

He was out first last night so that’s probably why Tino was a bit grumpy on the sofa.

Tino and Higgins both had some porridge on a teaspoon tonight. Tino tucked into his happily like a good little hamster. Higgins decided to attack the spoon and throw it off the shelf with his teeth 😂 Still with the porridge on it. Maybe because I put the spoon on his shelf and he didn’t want it there - he seemed torn between tasting the porridge and throwing the spoon off the shelf. He did eat a little bit in the end after I put the spoon back again .

He's just funny :ROFLMAO: It wouldn't have smelled of Tino- and he actually did get it first! I had two teaspoons with porridge on and put the one in Higgins cage first and then one in Tino's. Higgins was up and Tino didn't get up for his later. So the way I described it maybe added some confusion there :) I think he just didn't like a teaspoon blocking his shelf. He did eat the porridge eventually!
