Kuy

Those mixes look like the bunny dream ones? I don't think they have lentils do they? No need for mazuri. No need to scramble the egg - chopped boiled egg is fine. Great he likes walnuts :-) Personally I'd have left his dusty hoard for him to sort out himself a bit longer or put some new food back in there :-)

The egg yolk and white are both fine to feed 🥚

Hi, long time no see
Update about Kuy
me and kuy still have a long way to bonding, Kuy response on my hand whenever its near him, he will sniff my hand or came to my hand. He is not allowed me to hold him.

Kuy tried a hard boiled egg, however seems he not into it. The last protein he want to take only Tofu, i used dried tofu to boost his protein.

He's so sweet :-)

Beautiful little hamster! The world is such a huge place when you are young and your senses are most keen. What seems ordinary to us is amazing to them.

Thanks all for the praise 😊

I will modifed my room as his roaming place. More bigger more happier, still on progress to closed every hole in the corner.

Kuy enjoyed some wallnut as a breakfast snack.

He's adorable - he sounds to be having a nice time free roaming. They all seem to love walnuts!

Hi Forum, its been awhile i dont update in here.

Well, i went to another city because of my work needed to went there for awhile.

I left Kuy's care (changing food and water daily) to my family during 2 weeks of my work trips. Now i already at home again and did some weekly spot clean, especially cleaning his wheel because Kuy still not adapt to pee on his toilet tray.

Kuy doing great this day, he is healthy as always not symptoms of sickness however his fur looks a bit greasy. Seems Kuy choosing cocopeat over desert sand as his sand bath.

The bonding progress went well but a bit moved backward, he already adapt to my fingers (touch) but still not like to being held.

Got a new wood staircase from Tafit, its from fuzzy city series. The product is good especially in finishing. The price also cheaper than other brand, its a good option as subtitute.

Kuy is looking as cute as ever :-) Has he grown at all? He's on door 8 of the advent calendar if you want to have a look!

HIs weight is the same as before. He refuse to take any kind of proteins. I offered him tofu, chicken and eggs but he refused all of it. I still on going to find a subtitution as his seedmix a bit lack on protein.

I saw that! Thanks to include Kuy photo on the calender. Kuy so happy to see that!😁

@Socks Mum : thanks socks mom, i will rearrange his cage in this month and put this new stair inside.😁

@Jain : Thanks for the praise Jain. Kuy so happy to hear that! 😆

Does he like walnuts? They can be a protein source too. I've never known a hamster not love half a walnut (out of it's shell). You could give a couple a week maybe.

He does love it, i gives twice a week as his snack. Is there any kind of nut can be source of protein beside wallnut? Incase of Kuy get bored with it.

Brazil nut, plain unsalted cashew nuts :-) With Brazil nuts they are quite large and smooth and I always worry they might choke on it so I cut it into four pieces and give two pieces (ie half a brazil nut chopped in half). Brazil nuts are also supposed to be good for boosting immunity. I also eat the other half first before giving it just to make sure it's not a bad one! For some reason some brazil nuts can taste bad even when they look ok.

You would only want to give a nut two or (maximum three) times a week though really. If he's eating walnuts that's probably enough to help with the protein, along with his mix. Does he like mealworms?

Oh thanks, Maz
I never eat brazil nut before so im clueless with the taste. How do brazil nut taste that are considered safe?

He won't take any kind of insect or worms. I tried to give him silk worm and black soldier larvae but he refused it.

For now, the wallnut is the only protein source he want to take. Im thinking the other source of protein, incase of him got bored.

Kuy seems more picky eater than the rest kiddos i got before.

Brazil nuts taste nice - kind of creamy maybe - they are quite safe if the piece is not too big. But they are quite hard to cut once out of the shell! They are harder than walnuts. Often I find one half flies across the kitchen when I cut one in half.

Thanks Maz!
It really helpful since i never eat that.

I want to ask 2 questions since i suddenly remembered this.

1. How long should we change the desert sand? Kuy never pee on desert sand, so i always reuse it but i wondering if its okay if i never change it.

2. Does birch wood shavings is safe? Looks like we got a new shavings made from birch wood. Since birch categorized as safe wood, i assume it would be safe, but better to ask this forum opinion about this.
