Zelda wasn't a cuddler either, but over time she would take treats from my open hand and let me stroke her while she ate a treat (she would park right where she was and chow down if she liked something). You might try that?

The robo has gone now but I might possibly get another hamster at some point, maybe in the summer by which time Toby will be nearly 2 and Leo will be 2.5. It would need to be a Robo/dwarf/Chinese as I don't have time for a Syrian. It depends on how life plays out over the next few months.

Leo is 2.5 years old now but he doesn't look it! He still looks like a baby to me. I have noticed he comes out in the day sometimes now, whereas he used to be strictly nocturnal. He is also more comfortable around me as he gets older. I can even hold him nowadays.

He is so sweet It's lovely you can hold him now. Age has it's advantages when they mellow

Aw, that's wonderful!!! I know the feeling, my little guy just started letting me hold him too after a similar amount of time. It's so special, and Leo is looking pretty as ever

Yes, I don't know that he likes me necessarily, but he's not scared of me anymore. He's much more curious about me and happy to stay out even when my hand is in the cage.

I haven't really done any intentional taming since he was very young. I think it's just natural mellowing with age
