Pip the Robo

One thing that occurred to me about the getzoo platforms with 30cm legs. If I glue the legs I probably won’t be able to get the platforms out through the front door again. Although that shouldn’t be necessary for some time and I’d just have to take the bars off.

Hope the missing items turn up soon but it does sound as though you’re pretty much set to go.
Shame about the water bottle holder, I think I had that one at one time but wasn’t too keen, I quite like their wooden ones but they would most likely have been too high for Pip. Hopefully you can sand it down ok.
I can imagine it could be tricky getting the shelves out with the longs legs on but with any luck you probably won’t need to or at least not often.

It isn’t really missing - it’s just their shipping is slow I think. Although maybe it is missing! I didn’t want a wooden one again. My last one went manky and mouldy with getting wet. Plus they only fit the classic bottles and I like the Ferplast drinky ones after using them for years. The wood ones were all out of stock anyway. Considering the bucatstate one was the same price, the Rodipet one is better value as it has a hide attached as well as being a bottle holder.

I painted my wooden ones with plastikote which stopped them getting mouldy. I always used the classic bottles when I did use them but I know you like the ferplast ones.

You could try smoothing the sharp bit using an emery board or nail file.

Wow, so many lovely new things for Pip. He is going to love it and be so excited.

Post is so slow here and things are taking over two weeks to arrive. I hope the order from Hope's Healthy Treats arrives soon. I am looking forward to seeing what it is. :)

Thank you :-) It’s a cork log. They only had large size so it might be too big to fit in the cage with everything eise :)

Speaking of which the parcel from Hope’s healthy treats arrived just before lunch.

It’s extra floor items really for low level climbing, as he won’t have as many shelves.

The shelves and water bottle holder were practical/needed. The cork branch and/or log are extras.

Now why didn’t I think of that :-). I think I had mine in the days before I used plastikote.

Ok - so the cork log from hopes healthy treats arrived broken. It was a complete tunnel and the bottom half has snapped off completely and a few other loose bits. So either it was very dry or not enough packaging. I’m still deciding whether to send it back or keep it as cork bark pieces (but I already have some of those).

Luckily I had also ordered a cork log from Rodipet - the half tunnel type. And that is ok. It is very large! It’s not particularly tall but very wide. I don’t want to wait a week for it to come out of the freezer and I really dislike the smell after baking them, so decided to boil it. Fingers crossed that turns out ok! It’s in my largest stew pot saucepan but only about half is under water. So I’ll have to turn it round after 10 minutes to do the other half. Presumably any small gap between one half and the other will be sorted by the steam.

Here’s the other one that arrived broken

Oh what a shame. They will probably let you keep it and refund you if you wanted to tell them.

Do you think so? That would be easier than sending it back.

A stone on top has kept the other one under the boiling water but I think even when turned over there will still be part of it that wasn’t submerged! I need a cauldron ha ha! I am sure the steam will sort those bits though.

When I placed my first order with them,a piece of grapevine wood pierced the bag of sand I ordered. They asked me if I want a refund or a replacement. I picked a replacement and got a bag of sand sent to me.

You could still use the broken one I think, I much prefer a cork tunnel to a tube as it’s easy to just lift it up to see what’s going on inside, checking the tubes for any pee or old food can be a pain.
Smaller bits of cork bark can come in handy too.

Yes it could be handy - I had wanted one tube and one half tube but probably won’t have space for both anyway. I have quite a few pieces of cork bark already but I guess a few more pieces won’t do any harm!

Rainbow thank you - I’ll see what they suggest. Just need to decide if I want it replacing.

So the other cork log is now on its side in a roasting tin :ROFLMAO: . There was a gap in the middle that couldn’t get boiled in the pan. So I’ll turn it on the other side after 10 mins. It still smells a bit which is slightly affecting my asthma but not too bad and I don’t think it will smell once dry.

Unfortunately the HHT one is only any good for cork bark pieces - there’s a big crack on the other side too and that’s close to snapping so it wouldn’t even make a half tunnel.

Roast cork log for dinner lol

I hope your items don’t take too long either, but it’s good to get all prepared first :-)

So I thought I was about there but the dowels have gone missing. They show as being delivered on Thursday. Very strange.
