Socks: Mouseworks Dynamic Cardboard Redesign and Basic Tunneling

Socks pointed out that a proper house would earn him respect amongst other hamsters (Mom they're going to laugh at me). I said why are you worrying? You're a hamster, you don't socialise with other hamsters. Anyway, we are waiting for a Happy Henry MCH and platform (he needs somewhere to park his wheel) which should be arriving soon! His wheel felt a bit sticky last night so I suspect he is a bit of a wheel pee-er (shh mom!)

I did some pruning tonight and removed some old smelly bedding and some vety very old food 😄. Sock's wheel got a rinse in hot water and then dried and put back together. He sniffed it over and checked to see if was running well. His little cardboard MCH is in good order and nice and tidy. I wonder what he will think of the wooden MCH when it arrives!

I'm sure he will love it! I sometimes just give the wheel a wipe rather than a full wash if it's pee'd in :-) Although most of my Syrians haven't pee'd in their wheel very often.

I'm quite excited about it. He lives his cardboard one so much, a more spacious one should be perfect. I have to balance respecting his scent marking with keeping the flat fresh as I rent my flat, but it's fine. Hamsters in big, deep bedded cages don't smell 🌹. I have ordered a Trixie en suite for the MCH and Komodo sand. He needs a nice big sand bath as his current hamster toilet is a bit small now. He overshoots quite often 😄 and he needs more space to wallow in 🦛🛁🧼The sand I am using is sticky and forms a hard crust on things. I've tried Potty Litta, but Socks won't use it by itself.

Did you order the round Trixie sand bath? I have one of those. I really like Komodo sand. I always use it. I tried to look up the ingredients in Potty Litta but could not find what it is made of.

Yes, PL has no ingredients listed. It seems nice, little round, absorbent granules, but I have to sneak it into Socks' toilet sand to get him to use it. Too much and the loo stays dry 🚽😀. I like the sound of the KS, it has good reviews. I ordered the Trixie corner loo. I hope he uses it, you can never be sure. We need a bigger sand bath too.

Sand alone is perfect. I would not worry about using the litter. It concerns me that they do not list the ingredients in it too. You can sieve the sand daily which keeps it clean.😊

Thanks! I got a Trixie chinchilla sand bath, I might put that in depending on space. It is quite heavy when full, but does give him room for a good roll. I might need another platform for it.

Yes, the HH ones look good and aren't really expensive as they should be well made.

I like the cloud platforms :-) They are a useful shape for fitting up near an edge of a cage base or for using in the middle of the cage.

The Komodo sand has been delivered and I have changed the toilet and filled the chinchilla sand bath 🙂. Looking forward to Socks' reaction to it tonight 🧽🧼🪥
