Tino was out again tonight. I didn’t expect to see him, seeing as he had had a major spot clean the night before - I thought he’d hide away. But Higgins was out in the playpen and Tino came right up to the front door and tried to climb out when I opened it. So yet again one hamster was pestering to come out while the other one was out. Has to say sorry Tino not tonight.
Meanwhile Higgins wanted to go back quite quickly. So put him back on his cage and let Tino out. So here’s Tino again. There must be something in those Christmas treats!

He's huge, like a European Hamster, and his coat is lovely and thick. It's great that after initially being shy, he's asking to be let out and that he and Higgins are so sociable now, not even a cage clean can discourage them.

He does look quite large! I can never gauge photos though.

That's a good comparison, he does look like that in his side shot. Great to see more Tino pictures

Tino came out to say hello tonight - probably because I had just put Higgins in the playpen. Higgins got there first and I was a bit tired to let Tino out afterwards but he'd disappeared by then anyway. Maybe tomorrow Tino.

It was Tino's turn last night. He came out once - looked at me then walked off down his cork tunnel. So I assumed he didn't want to come out. Then he walked back up the cork tunnel and showed me it was a bit of a tight squeeze getting out at that end. They are so clever! While his set up is identical to before his cage move, the front of the cork log doesn't have quite enough space before the bridge, for him to get out easily without squeezing out! So that needs a bit of adjustment. He also can't get out round the back of the cork log - basically it's a bit long for this cage! I will sort that tonight!
He then came to the front of the cage and sat at the door showing he wanted to come out so had a bit of time in the playpen. I was going to have him on the sofa but it was quite late by then and I was tired and couldn't face trying to hunt him down late at night if he jumped off!

I liked it when he did that little frisky jump ha ha. I'm using the same playpen for both hamsters (but they each have their own different playpen items). I had intended to wipe it down between them but that didn't happen! A lot of effort late at night and when they want to come out it's all I can do to get the playpen up in time!
It doesn't seem to be bothering them. Higgins scent marked one corner the night before, rubbing up against it. Tino had a bit of a sniff in certain areas and could probably smell Higgins but it didn't seem to bother him. Both of them seem more interested in trying to get out of it!

So Tino was at the bars again tonight wanting to come out. Put him in the playpen but all he wanted to do was chew the carpet in the corner and try and get out. I think he is definitely ready for free roaming. But I don't feel up to it that late at night! Come out a bit earlier Tino!
It's always slightly nerve wracking the first time you do it with a hamster, wondering how easy it will be to get them back again, but I'm going to have to bite that bullet!
