I've seen more of Eddie since i opened up his set up a bit but he doesn't want much out of cage time. He comes to the door when he wants out which he did this afternoon.

He's home now and eating the seeds he found.
Yes, he's a content and friendly little hamster who likes the simple life.

It is lovely to see Eddie and he does seem very content. He seems to love his sand jar :)

Eddie wanted out again to rummage around in the cereal box. Soon as he had food in his pouches he hovered around my feet asking me to scoop him up. He's always carried his food about and doesn't keep a hoard. He eats sitting in his sand, in a tube or on a shelf where i usually find a small heap of shells. He's sitting in his sand now eating.
Don't know why or where he established this habit or maybe its just part of Eddie.

He really is such a cute little fluff ball. I love how he came to you to put him back in his cage. It shows trust and a lovely bond.

It’s always lovely to see Eddie, he’s such a sweet little character, happily going about things in his own individual way.

He clearly loves that sand bath :-). You would think he’d get sand in the food! He looks very cute in the video and enjoying the hanging treat thing. He looks furry and chunky and quite chilled.

Eddie tested positive for diabetes but i need to re test another time.
I'm not surprised at all though and have suspected it for a while.

I’m really sorry to hear that, was it high glucose, ketones or both?
I’m guessing he’s showing symptoms then if you suspected it already, at least he’s in good hands if he does have diabetes, it’s not an easy thing to deal with but with your previous experience he’ll be getting the best care he can.

I am sorry to hear Eddie has diabetes. Thankfully he is with you and his needs will be well catered for.

The diastix i have only test for glucose which is high. I should have gotten the multistix i bought when i had Percy but couldn't find them online. Not that it makes any difference going forward.

I am really sorry to hear this. Was it the smell of his urine that made you suspect? Does he seem well enough in himself?

It might be worth trying to get the other test strips just to keep an eye on ketones.
Hopefully he’ll remain well enough to continure enjoying life for a while yet.

The sweet smell and the sticky consistency when he leaves a paddle made me wonder.

He drinks mainly from his bowl and finishes that some days. He doesn't do a lot which i put down to personality but could be fatigue. He seems to be eating whenever i see him but is lighter than Lilly.

I don't think he's in discomfort but has nipped me twice lately which is out of character.

Percy's mental health was very badly affected but i can't be sure that his diabetes was the cause of that. He improved though, so i think the fact that i tried to keep his life as stress free as possible, helped.

Yes, i'm going to look for them. Pharmacies don't sell them so i need to get them online.
