Gardens and wildlife

This morning, I got an up close view of the moon 🌙 It was pretty awesome 👌

Where is that?!

Is that actually hanging in a church?!

It's amazing!

Nothing much in our garden as yet but the snowdrops are out (looks like some moles are out as well!). Not very good photos - just a quick snap with a phone.

On a different topic, but still garden related, I watched a YouTube video about propagating veggies and indeed, they seem to grow from cuttings. Even if these don't get very big, the shoots should be useful for the guinea pigs and Socks as a nice snack. They are Romaine lettuce shoots, celery, gem lettuces and carrots 🥕

That's fascinating! So you can just chop the ends of your carrots off, stick them in compost and grow them?

Yes, I will look out the You Tube video. Carrots grow leaves and thin, pale carrots, but the leaves are good for guinea pigs and may be of interest to hamsters when tender, in small quantities. The Romaine and gem lettuces seems to grow quite well, as well as the celery. I think the tender growth would be quite tasty for everyone, including people 🥬🐾 I'm going to try them in pots in my window box, but I will need to use some slug proofing. I will keep some indoors to see how much lettuce I can get from them 🧐😏 The leaves start growing quickly. The water needs to be changed alot. I put in a drop of aquarium fertiliser to feed them to get them started.

Those are beautiful photos Socks Mum :-) Assume those are your window boxes? They look amazing.

My first walk of the year round my favourite local garden. It was so lovely sitting in the warm Spring sunshine watching the first bees and butterflies of the season and listening to birdsong ☀️🦋

It's all beautiful :-) And that is an amazing photo of the fish! I can see there are some goldfish, but what are the others? Do you know? Trout?

I’m not sure. It’s the best photo I’ve managed to get of the fish in 3 years!

It’s amazing! So sharp and clear.

They seem to be enjoying the sun, or maybe waiting for dinner. I think they may be koi carp, relatives of goldfish, but pretty huge ❤️
