Gardens and wildlife

Dorset looks beautiful and you had lovely weather! Love the monkeys! And the belted galloways.

Dorset looks as beautiful as ever. I haven’t visited since 2016 but it is a favourite county of mine.
I was introduced by my parents to it because an older generation of my father’s lived there and he had fond memories of visits there.

Beautiful photos! Lovely flowers - is that your garden? I also love the one of the cow. My immediate thought when I saw the herd of cows though was - eek! I once had a lovely walk through a cow field, got my camera out and one of them started chasing me ha ha - only just got over the fence in time. They can be quite protective when they have calves.

Yes, it’s my garden. I’ve worked quite hard on it this year, and planted quite a few new perennials. The cows are particularly selected for being a docile breed. We have had Red Devon cows the previous 2 years which are very docile. The Sussex cows are slightly larger and seem to be a little more curious!

You've done a lovely job with your garden :-) I've always loved cows and found them so gentle - except that time I got chased ha ha. We have all sorts round here. Belted galloways locally. My favourite have always been the red shaggy Highland cows :)

I was just watering my garden and spotted this nest at the end, nestled in the ivy and tucked away behind the holly in the woodland bit of my garden. I suspect it could be a robin’s nest as l’m pretty sure I’ve seen a baby robin in my garden- unless anyone knows differently? I only have a small garden, but it shows you don’t need a big garden for wildlife to make a home 🪺

Lovely! I wouldn't know what type of nest it is, but it might be a robin's nest. I think hedge sparrows nest in locations like that as well.

You look to have had lovely weather.
