Second chance hamsters

Have you still got a spare Hamster Heaven cage? Why not use that and make a bigger top door for it.

I have three with two going spare but the front door of a HH closes over the top so wouldn't work.
I do have a spare top door from another cage that would work. Same type of door as on the Plaza.

If it's the same layout in a barred cage, everything smells familiar and a larger barred cage, it won't stress him - I think he'd settle fine.

I think Frida meant why not use the Hamster Heaven for him :)

Or just use the HH as it is :). I did have my first robo in that cage (Mickey 2XL) he had a labyrinth house, a wheel, a saucer, a cork ledge and various floor items and was quite happy although I always wished the cage was a bit bigger. He used to tunnel in the 6" of substrate. It's bigger than the current cage and has the front opening door. Although weren't you trying to get away from a front opening door actually? I liked it with my first robo, for interaction.

I'm not trying to get away from a front opening door but don't want an unfamiliar Robo jump out of it and leg it. This boy is tiny which doesn't help.
I have seen a Criceti 15 on Gumtree which would be fine as a temporary cage but am now considering a big top door for an HH to see if Lawrence wants to come out by offering a taxi.
I really should know by now that i do not get on with small doors.

I don't get on with small doors either. I used to be very tempted with the Ferplast Karat 100 but the small doors put me off.

Probably all depends on the personality but the door set up can be awkward when reaching in for bowls etc

Oh i see! Use a Hamster Heaven and make a bigger top door for the HH. Haven't thought of that but will do now. Thank you Frida!
I don't think I explained myself very well 🤣

See what i mean though. I wouldn't want this tiny superfast one jump out of the cage. It would be a job to catch him. I need a big top door to interact with him.

Monty was slow for Robo standards. Eventually i was able to scoop him up in my hands through the front door of his HH. I even carried him in my hands.

Scotty jumped out of his HH door a few times and run around the bedroom floor but i was able to catch and scoop him up.

I'm not that confident that i could catch this tiny lifewire called Lawrence.
