Mom went off, her teeth don't grow back and needed fillingsWas that you or Socks went to the dentist?![]()
Yes, but not an NHS dentist. Teeth are rather unaffordable these days. The work has to be done however and I don't have a car, I get free off peak transport and don't have human dependants, so I can afford the treatment, I'm fortunate. The old silver fillings start to go eventually and mine were very precarious, so I'm glad I had them doneI wish one of my teeth would re-growYou mean you actually have a dentist? It's so hard to get one now.
Mom: I decided to try some enrichment as Socks spends a lot of time sadly meerkatting in his cage waiting for me to take him to the playpen at 3am.
Socks: I have a lot of bowls with nice smelling forage and cook reptile sand in them. There is a big (well big to me) ceramic bowl under my door which is lovely and cool as the reptile sand is slightly moist.
Mom: Unfortunately Socks shows very little interest in nice forage, hay and Timothy hay seed heads and black oil sunflowers, although I do find sunflower seeds in his hoard alot. The sand met with the same indifference, but he does use his corner tray toilet quite fastidiously and it always has a wet patch.
Socks: Mom, ahem
Mom: However, Socks found a tray with wood shavings in it amongst forage and sun flower seeds.
Socks: Mom's wondering if it reminded me of when I was a pup, I must have been on woodshavings back when I was a tiny hamster living with my siblings and my real mom.
Mom: Socks pouched alot of woodshavings and spent a long time standing in the tub, sniffing them with his nose deep in the shavings
The sand bowl is really nice and cool![]()

Thanks MazI changed it for you
I take it its hot where you are! It's been raining here for a couple of days.
I'm jealous of you 3C degreesYes, it’s roasting here, although I have managed to keep indoors to a cool 24.9 degrees![]()
AbsolutelyWhen it hit 40 degrees a few years ago, I taped a couple of those car windscreen reflective screens to the windows to deflect some heat which made a tiny difference, but any difference is better than none!
