Gardens and wildlife

The temperature has been about the same here too, it is freezing although I must admit I remember many a winter when this would have seemed quite mild!
No snow here though, we might get some tonight maybe.

Snowing heavily here again. The small road to our house was iced over last night. Defrosted this morning but now it's covered in snow and will probably freeze again tonight. It was minus 6 last night! Freezing!
I thought of you when I heard the forecast for the north ❄️

It's beautiful! Of course it's ok :-) It's only in the photo competition where it has to be your own photo :) Even then, one a partner, or someone in your family took, counts as that :)

Any snowy photos today Maz? We didn’t get any! I know there was snow in Northamptonshire but didn’t come as far south as us…it’s raining now!

It was so nice this get out for a walk in the sunshine this morning after all the freezing temperatures and my chest infection. These woods are a stones throw from my house...its only a small wood, but perfect for a nice walk ☀️

Lovely photos :-). Thank you for those - it’s a really nice woods.

I didn’t get any more snow pictures. It had gone completely by today but was frosted over everywhere this morning.

It’s been really mild all over Christmas. I went for a short walk yesterday and noticed a tree in full bloom with blossom! I also noticed that I have a primrose in flower in the garden! Turning a bit chillier over the next few days though ❄️
This photo was taken just before Christmas. It felt more like a spring day than winter ❄️

That’s lovely and a nice photo. I was wondering if some things might come out earlier this year as it has been quite a mild winter - if very wet! Certainly where we are anyway.

I haven’t had much to add to this thread this year yet- but you’ve just inspired me to!

That is a lovely photo.
It’s been very mild here too with lots of stormy rain though until the last few days when it’s began to freeze again so I haven’t been out much at all to see what might be going on!
It’s so sad though to see nature so out of synch now though with the seasons so confused.

I remember a few years ago (maybe 10 years actually) we had snow here from November right through to March - it was there throughout, quite deep and was quite a tough winter. And that year it was fascinating to see the bulbs all coming out at once in March April. There were snowdrops, crocuses and daffodils all coming out at the same time! Which suggested to me that the Snowdrops and Crocuses hibernated and were temperature dependant on coming out rather than an exact time of year.

I used to have snowdrops out at Christmas almost every year at one time, they often do come out when it’s still very cold, I think most of the bulbs have probably rotted in all the rain now though!
I think with most things it’s a combination of temperature & time of year though.
